Running Faraway Nodes

Faraway Nodes will allow anyone to run an IPFS node to support our game ecosystem. The InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) is a protocol and peer-to-peer network for storing and sharing data, and is developed by Protocol Labs. These nodes will power the distributed content delivery system of all Faraway games, and in exchange, node operators will receive $ROYALE as rewards. Once enough Nodes are live, game media files will load from the best available node based on latency and availability.

The projected specifications to run an IPFS node are:

  • 8GB of ram

  • 2 CPU cores

  • 20GB of extra disk space

  • Stable internet connection

  • Port Forwarding Authority

The Game DAO will be able to vote on what percentage of the Ecosystem Fund or Rewards allocation that will go towards Node operator rewards.
